Dating back to the 1950's, a host of brilliant dancers, choreographers and teachers have helped shape Long Island's cultural landscape. Today's classical ballet training programs can lay claim to producing numerous professional dancers. In recognition of our vibrant community, Long Island Ballet Competition has been founded to become the unique collaboration of ballet artists and dance educators. THE THIRD LONG ISLAND BALLET COMPETITION - October 2009
On October 24th and 25th fifty participants from various schools performed before a panel of internationally renowned judges. The contestants displayed a wonderful range of individual talent with an impressive intensity. THE JUDGES:ROSANNA SERAVALLI Former soloist with American Ballet Theatre and with Joffrey Ballet. Tenured professor of dance at Purchase College. HARRIET CLARK Formerly with American Ballet Theatre. Ballet faculty at the JKO school at American Ballet Theatre. MARILYN D'HONAU Formerly with Elio Feld American Ballet and Jerome Robbins "West Side Story" on Broadway. Dance faculty at the Tisch School for the Arts, CAP 21 at New York University.

THE FIRST LONG ISLAND BALLET COMPETITION - August 2006At the Maguire Theater at SUNY College in Old Westbury. Twenty nine contestants were evaluated by a panel of internationally renowned judges: Patricia Dokoudovsky, former principal of the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. Director of the Dokoudovsky New York Conservatory of Dance. Brett Raphael, Formerly with Stars of American Ballet. Artistic director of Connecticut Ballet and Zig Zag Ballet. Richard Marsden featured dancer of the New York City Ballet, Sacramento and Diablo Ballet.
THE SECOND LONG ISLAND BALLET COMPETITION - May 2008the adjudicating panel evaluated fifty three (53) young dancers. The Judges were: John Prinz, former principal with New York City Ballet and American Ballet Theater, currently international ballet master. Rosanna Seravalli, former soloist with Joffrey Ballet and American Ballet Theater, currently tenured professor at Purchase College. Lupe Serrano, former leading ballerina with American Ballet Theater, currently teaching ballet classes for ABT Studio Company and the Metropolitan Opera dancers.
