WELCOME TO LONG ISLAND BALLET COMPETITION 2011 at the Maguire Theater SUNY College in Old Wesbury, New York SATURDAY. OCTOBER 22
ENTRY INFORMATIONThe LIBC 2011 is open to all students of classical ballet ages 9 - 22 Professional dancers* are not permitted to compete. *Professional dancer - someone who has a seasonal (3 months or more) or yearly professional engagement with a recognized dance company. A participant's age is determined as of the competition date, October 22, 2011 Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and registration will be closed when the quota is reached.
SIX COMPETING DIVISIONS
ALL BALLET VARIATIONS - Male and female- MUST BE SELECTED FROM THE CLASSICAL REPERTOIRE. A LIST IS PROVIDED WITH THE BROCHURE AND BELOW UNDER "Repertoire". BALLET SOLOS (introductory Division) MUST BE CHOREOGRAPHED BY THE TEACHER. TIME LIMIT: Introductory Division must not exceed one minute (1:00) The character dance must not exceed one minute and a half (1:30)

MALE AND FEMALE PARTICIPANTS MAY SELECT VARIATIONS FROM THE LIST BELOW - (Twenty ballets, each with several suggested variations)Coppelia (Delibes/St. Leon) Girl & Boy Variations from Wedding Pas de Deux
Pas De Quatre (Pugni/Perrot, Dolin) any of the ballerinas Variations AWARDSJudges will select three award winners for each category.
COSTUMES - DRESS CODE
Costumes and make-up are the responsibility of each participant. All allowable accessories shall be deemed to be a hand held article which is integral to the variation being performed such as a fan or tambourine. There are no free standing props permitted. MUSICAll sound tracks provided on separate CD(s) by each competitor must be completely free of applause, vocals and/or any distracting noises(such as scratches, pops and/or hisses) that may mar the sound quality of the selection. In the event of an issue with any musical CD during LIBC's application review process, a timely replacement will be immediately requested by LIBC. Replacement musical CDs are the sole responsibility of the applicant. Failure to provide a usable CD(s) will result in rejection of the application. FEESAll competitors will receive a complimentary LIBC t-shirt. The following fee schedule must be adhered to as detailed on the LIBC ENTRY FORM. Introductory Division - $ Junior Division $130 Senior Divisions $150 Pre-Professional Division $150 Open Division $130 Collegiate Division $150 There is a $20 charge for all returned checks. The Long Island Ballet Competition is a Not-For-Profit Organization under code 501(c)(3). There will be no refunds. In the event a competitor is unable to compete due to medical reasons, a written notice must be submitted accompanied by a letter from a doctor attesting to the competitor's unavailability.
PHOTO AND VIDEO RIGHTS LIBC reserves thr right to use any photographs and/or video taken of any participant or teacher during any event at the competition for LIBC promotional purposes. LIBC strictly prohibits the use of all videographic and photographic equipment during the Competition with the exclusive exception of LIBC's designees. HOLD HARMLESSThe LIBC, the Maguire Theater and SUNY College are not responsible for any personal injuries or property loss. All participants are required to be self-insured and to idemnify LIBC
ADMINISTRATIVE RIGHTSIn the event an issue is not clearly addressed in the "Rules and Regulations", LIBC shall adjudicate the issue. LIBC's decision shall be binding. Competing dancers and their teachers are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and general support of all participants. The LIBC has the right to discontinue the participation of any competitor for cause.

How to Find SUNY College at Old Westbury BY CAR - Westbury is located immediately north of the Long Island Expressway (Route 495, exit 41N) in the village of Old Westbury, N.Y., approximately 16 miles east of the New York City line. The main entrance to the college is located on the west side of Rte. 107 approximately one mile north of Jericho Turnpike From the Long Island Expressway (Route 495), east or west: Travel to exit 41 north, Route 106/107. Proceed north for 1½ miles to the campus entrance. From the Northern State Parkway, east or west: Travel to exit 35 North, Route 106/107. Proceed north for 1½ miles to the campus entrance. BY TRAIN - The Long Island Railroad stops in Hicksville, less than 10 minutes from campus. A campus shuttle runs during peak times during the academic year and taxi service is available year-round. BY BUS - The MTA route N-20, which travels from Main Street in Flushing, New York, to the Hicksville railroad station, includes a stop at the College's main entrance. A college shuttle bus meets MTA buses at the main gate during the school year and registration hours, at certain times.
