About the LIBC Teachers
Mary Carpenter
Master Classes & FREE Pointe Shoe Seminar
Mary Carpenter trained at the Cincinnati Ballet Company School and went on to receive a
BA with honors from Butler University. She studied at David Howard Dance Center on
scholarship and also worked with Ballet Russe legend Nina Novack. Mary has performed
with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet at Lincoln Center and as a principal guest artist with
the Granite State Ballet, Ohio Dance Theatre and a soloist for the Charleston Ballet and
Maryland Ballet. She is currently a faculty member of Steps on Broadway, Barnard College
and the New School University. Mary is a pointe shoe expert and master fitter for the
Professional Division at Capezio Ballet Makers in NYC. She directed nine ballet classroom
music recordings with Roper Records and is the Director and featured teacher in the
video “The Magical World of Ballet” also with Roper. Mary is also the featured teacher in
two videos for RizBiz productions “Budding Ballerinas” and “From Tights to Tutus.”
Victoria Edgar
Juniors Class
Ms. Edgar performed in American and European Ballet Companies which
include Pennsylvania Ballet, Colorado Ballet, Rambert Dance Company
(London), Scapino Ballet (Amsterdam). She worked with several world
class leading choreographers: Jiri Kylian, Nils Christe, Matz Ek,
Michael Utoff, Christopher Bruce and others… It is on Long Island that
she received the training that has brought her to a fulfilling dance
career. In addition, her choreographic works have gained critical
acclaim in England. After living in London for twelve years, she has
recently returned to Long Island.
